engine block
I read alot of articles and videos about prepping the engine block before installing the headgasket. So is using the sandpaper 200 400 600 grit safe to use?

What?!
Seriously?! I've never sanded for head gasket prep, sounds like a bad idea. Copper spray at best. |
Use a die grinder and 3M roloc disk (green one.) Go lightly.

Will do and buy some copper spray as well

When your in a tight situation you do what you have to do. Lol.

I sand my block but, only where I can't get the baked on head gasket off.
If a razor blade doesn't remove some of the old head gasket, I use 1000 grit sand paper on the block surface and lightley sand to make the bumbs go away. I have done this all my life and never had an issue. If you don't have 1000grit, and you have 400 grit for example. Sand it against another 400 paper to make it finer. Keep sanding on each other until really fine or feels like 1000 grit. Good luck. |
