H22

I have a 92 accord with a h22 swap. But to me it seems like it just eats oil up like crazy. I have no leaks so idk where it's going . I use vtec pretty often. Sometimes. . And I'm using Mobil 1 full synthetic. With about a week it goes down. Any one got a clue as to why I'm using so much oil. . And just did the oil change last weekend. And motor just hit a lil over a 1000 since the swap

It sounds like its just burning it are the rings bad?

Del-sol-john 05-01-2012 09:11 PM

How many miles are actually on the motor?

Jdm-H22 05-01-2012 09:46 PM

The motor has less than 30,000 motor was imported

Jdm-H22 05-01-2012 09:46 PM

The swap was done maybe 2 months ago now

2point6 05-01-2012 11:26 PM

ditch the mobile 1.

Jdm-H22 05-02-2012 11:48 AM

What kind of oil shoul i use then

H22apower 05-02-2012 12:34 PM

Pennzoil............maybe Valvoline. Any smoke ?

cd5sir 05-02-2012 12:48 PM

How much oil are you using to fill it up ? 5 quirts won't fill it .... H usually burn oil espcially if your hitting vtec a lot

Jdm-H22 05-02-2012 02:34 PM

No smoke at all . And i juss did the oul change with 5 quarts.

cd5sir 05-02-2012 02:52 PM

5 quarts doesn't fill it it takes another quart on top. Then vtec burns oil like all Honda motors . Where did you get your motor from

Jdm-H22 05-02-2012 08:47 PM

I had it imported from a shop in las vegas. And had it put in there to

taintschwacker 05-02-2012 09:43 PM

Compression test the engine. After you test it dry, retest with pouring maybe a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder. If it raises the compression then you most likely have bad rings.

Jdm-H22 05-02-2012 09:53 PM

How do i tell if my rings are still good?

H22apower 05-07-2012 10:24 PM

Smoke, sputtering, rev needle acts crazy, etc. The type and color of the smoke is an easy way of noticing it and 100% a compression test will suffice.

Dead Bird 05-07-2012 11:02 PM

How come?
It is what they use at the dealer after all...

I'm not a fan of waxy pennzoil. Valvoline I suppose, but I normally run Quaker State, or Mobil1

Nando1 09-05-2012 02:36 PM

I would say use Valvoline ..... Stay away from Pennzoil that stuff gunks up .....
