LS--type R

ok just a quik question for all u honda heads that know
motors and specs and compression and all that other shit

what would happen if i put type R internals in a b18b1
wit a b18b1 head
i know it would be kinda a waste but still wanna try

any benifits

pro''s and con's lmk

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:31 PM

better bang for your buck just to do lsvtec

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:36 PM

you should get about 9.9 :1 compression. plus or minus depending on a few things. but thats less then stock gsr. its a different story alltogether if you had a type r head.

babyrex22 03-31-2007 10:41 PM

i know that but
im just wonderin about the LS wit type R internals

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:41 PM

scratch that. i did the calculations wit type r rods your looking at 11.5:1 compression if you used ls rods. so itll bump the compression up if you are going NA. it wont have vtec so you got a nice smooth power band. probly wouldnt be a bad deal if you just used type r pistons

babyrex22 03-31-2007 10:42 PM

and wat are the benifits of those cams that they make that
eliminate Vtec
i think like pro drag cars usem or somthin

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:45 PM

i would stop at just the type r pistons if you plan to go NA. any more type r internals u just loose compression

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:46 PM

are you building a pro drag car?

babyrex22 03-31-2007 10:49 PM

i guesss i am now
if ur sure my compression is gonna be that good

wat if i built the head completly

babyrex22 03-31-2007 10:51 PM

naw im not just curious about doin
a project that doesnt get done
by every other ricer
wat kinda rods should i thro in then

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:54 PM

until you really know what you wanna do? and believe me everything has already been done. just do what you want. but i would keep the stock ls rods.

babyrex22 03-31-2007 10:56 PM

kew
but wat if i built the head
would that up my comp too

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 10:58 PM

ummm. milling the head will raise the compression. but beware piston to valve contact is no fun!

babyrex22 03-31-2007 11:02 PM

just get titanium springs right

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 11:04 PM

save your money. the valve springs do serve a purpose and heap out the motor. but if you are just thowing stock type r pistons in there... the stock vlave springs should be fine.

babyrex22 03-31-2007 11:10 PM

is there a piston thatll up my compression more than type R pistons

HEADSHOT 03-31-2007 11:20 PM

the jdm type r pistons..

i was gonna say the the civic type r pistons but the piston to deck height is a negative number... and remember what i said about piston to valve contact? if you went with those ctr pistons... u would probly need to destroke the motor and then i dont know where youd be at hp/tq wise

mjc1055 04-01-2007 03:59 PM

here ya go

babyrex22 04-01-2007 11:32 PM

fuck it
my hommies hookin me up
wit type r crank, pistons, rods, and new bearings
and my other hommie hookin me up wit a head

DJ NeX 04-06-2007 09:11 PM

What head?

If you go with all type R internals, you'll lose displacement which is bad. If you wanna make good power, go with Type R pistons and stick with the LS crank and rods. This will raise your compression. Then After that I would go with a B16 head which would give you the added benefit of a better flowing head over the LS and you would also gain the almighty VTEC that nearly every Honda fanatic has an orgasm about.

AZ93Civic 04-10-2007 10:57 AM

heres mine :

COMPRESSION RATIO: 10.604947671389706
Displacement : 1797.5671647736117

tegmister 04-10-2007 11:14 AM

ide go ctr pistons, rods, etc. in an ls block. than b16 tranny.

I have alot to say but not enough time damnit!!!

Manga_Spawn 04-10-2007 11:39 AM

Come one Ravi help the guy out. You have done all this to the teg! I babyrex I would PM ravi and have him help you out. He is the LS master. :)

*inFamous* 04-10-2007 11:44 AM

Lol i know dude, but i've had this shpiel like 100000 times in the last month.

Tell you what, come out to a meet and i'll talk car turkey with you. I just dont wanna type it all out again lol

DJ NeX 04-10-2007 02:41 PM

I know what you mean ravi. Just remember, that at some point in time someone had to give the schpiel to you.

*inFamous* 04-10-2007 02:43 PM

OH i know this, hence i still give the speech quite frequently :) I just think i do a better job in person!

EatSleepJDM 04-10-2007 08:13 PM

if you go with Itr pistons go with jdm ones, you can also go with U.S b16 pistons which will be just a tad bit more cr than the jdm Itr's, but if you really want to be baller go with jdm b16a pistons(p30's) will bring you to just above the jdm Itr's cr.i dont suggest using jdm b16b(pct) pistons unless you plan on doing alot of work and taking carefull measurements.

hahahaha the shit we learn
