b16a or ls vtec

i just pikd up a 2000 si shell and was wondering what swap would be better to drop in it i got a lsvtec b18b1 with stock internals and a 99 b16 head or should i put a b16a that has ctr internals with a 89 b16 head

bash_ceballos 10-14-2009 11:52 PM

Was going that way jus cheking to see other peoples opinion

messatsu 10-15-2009 12:21 AM

b16 for me

brandon 10-15-2009 01:10 AM

b16 all day

BigCountry 10-15-2009 01:29 AM

LsV

1fastdc 10-15-2009 09:17 AM

id go with the b16 ,only cuz the ctr internals thoe...

BigCountry 10-15-2009 09:27 AM

You fail.... the ctr motor is a B16B not a B16a buddy.... lol

Chinky 10-15-2009 09:32 AM

lsv done right b16 if ur gonna cut corners on the lsv build

santi's fast Accord 10-15-2009 09:50 AM

b16!

VtecCr-x 10-15-2009 09:54 AM

lsv stock internals not gonna last,B16 with ctr internals = gonna last

b20sol 10-15-2009 10:39 AM

lsv

Chinky 10-15-2009 10:39 AM

b16's are slow as fuck

adam 10-15-2009 10:56 AM

Lol Explain please....

b20sol 10-15-2009 11:00 AM

arp head studs arp rod bolts and that lsv stock internals should be just fine

BigCountry 10-15-2009 11:28 AM

I'm glad someone else thinks so...

ewok 10-15-2009 02:53 PM

lsv just build it right there faster than b16's stock vs stock

churchyegvtec 10-15-2009 03:24 PM

b16 with ctr pistons and good valvetrain and retainers will spin to 9 all day mines 9800 shit especially if you ever plan on going boost later b16s love turbos

churchyegvtec 10-15-2009 03:25 PM

anyone wanna race my b16? all honda motors are good

BigCountry 10-15-2009 03:26 PM

Ok there are exceptions damnit...lol My ls isn't shit, it's stock lol I was saying stock LsV vs. Stock B16.... not built lol

ewok 10-15-2009 03:31 PM

you dont count!!!! lol

usdm420 10-15-2009 03:43 PM

stock internals on a LS-V is gonna be slow as fuck. Low compression LS pistons, stock head. I'd take a B16 with Type-R parts over a "stock" LS-VTEC all day.

usdm420 10-15-2009 03:44 PM

Maybe the ones you've had.....I was running a 13 second B16 in a '98 4-dr.

Jason.AZ1 10-15-2009 03:45 PM

stock for stock
Ls-V has more hp/tq
then a b16a

Do a b20-V more hp/tq then a Ls-V/b16
But that's all stock I mean if your gonna build a motor then yeah up to you.

1fastdc 10-15-2009 03:47 PM

i never said it was,try reading my thread agin "buddy"...;)

BigCountry 10-15-2009 04:01 PM

Try learning to spell "buddy"....;)

usdm420 10-15-2009 04:05 PM

Again...from straight up experience:
A B16A with CTR internals will outperform a stock internal LS/VTEC (LS pistons, stock VTEC head)

If that is what you are comparing, go for the B16A.

BigCountry 10-15-2009 04:07 PM

I mean if that's the case then fuck the LsV.... The modded B16 will be better.

Jason.AZ1 10-15-2009 04:14 PM

I like b16s and Im all for 1.6 ask my friends
but if he does the same to the ls-v ctr pistons with gsr head
the ls-v will out perform the b16...

but a stock b16a vs a stock lsv the ls-v still has more power/tq

but me id take a semi built b16 compared to a lsv anyday

usdm420 10-15-2009 04:19 PM

I'm going off of what he stated in his original post. He stated stock internals on the LS-VTEC. I dunno why people start getting into "LS-VTEC with pistons, cams, etc"

He didn't say he was doing any of that.

churchyegvtec 10-15-2009 04:40 PM

ok so i have the b16 with ctr pistons i think he mite b referenceing in my garage right now and that b16 with a semi built head will make more power then a stock slapped together ls/v ive had both and a b16 ctr will def outproform the low comp ls/v
