3.8 pulley need a methonal kit

so i grabbed a 3.8 pulley for my JRSC and i was told that its to dangerous to run this on just a stock car with no methonal kit, that i can blow my engine.

I have kpro 480cc injectors and I/E/RH

anyone else heard of this?

Honestly I don't own one however everyone I've seen in Honda Tuning has had a methanol kit so there has to at least be half truth to it.

Hellsinki 02-06-2013 06:47 AM

they're running methanol to artificially increase octane. It works.

IMPORTBEATSMUSCLE 02-06-2013 08:39 AM

water methanol? Or straight methanol?

Hellsinki 02-06-2013 08:48 AM

I have always ran a roughly 50/50 mix of vp m1 and distilled water

B16-Integra 02-06-2013 12:18 PM

The 50/50 water meth mixture works well. The distilled water cools the cylinder down while the methanol increases the octane of the fuel. I would change you oil more frequently doing this. Take the intervals down to ~2,000 miles IMO.

IMPORTBEATSMUSCLE 02-06-2013 03:56 PM

does water end up in the oil? Or does the methanol cause the oil to break down faster?

B16-Integra 02-08-2013 05:31 PM

If you are using a large amount of cc's of water methanol there is chance water and methanol will both get past the rings. Methanol in your oil is dangerous like water. There are a handful of evo's in phoenix and tucson that are running quality water methanol injection systems and they dont have any issues.

i just ended up grabbing a 4.0 pulley should be able to safely boost 7psi not a huge increase from 5psi currently running but safer and less issues, now all i will need is a tune

i hear UMS is a good place to tune anyone else know a good place and good price

Locash or ums wouldn't go anywhere else

Since you are going to tune anyhow have you thought of just upgrading fuel rather than runing water/meth injection?

bb4arson 02-12-2013 08:31 PM

i was tune on water meth by joe , i never had a problem on my s/c h22 prelude ..

the water meth does cool down your intake temps as well ,since its shooting in the supercharger blades as well ..

GtecD16 02-15-2013 10:01 PM

yea thought bout doing that, but seems so much time and money has to be put into it. I honestly feel that in another year if i keep my ep3 i will swap in a k24a2 or an a1, just feels like i have almost maxed out the a3 potential without have to do more significant upgrades. i have been running 92 oct since i went street kit

so the other day i ran up againts my bros fa5, granted i was running the 3.8 pulley and the belt wasnt that tight so boost at high rpms was going down but he kept up with me and all he has are basic bolt ons skunk2 intake race header and exhaust.
granted his car stock gets smoked by mine but times like make me want to get k24, and match that with my jrsc = heaven
