CALLING ALL BODY SHOP DUDES! Need advice

The new project Si i bought has a little problem...
The radiator support is a little buckled up to where my radiator and ac condenser hit the hood (im assuming)
Since im a cheap ass im lookin for an easy way to yank it back into place...
Word on the street is that it could be pulled back into place with straps and shit using my truck
I, of course, have no experience doing that and do not have straps to do so
Anybody have any experience doing this?!? Anybody have any time and straps to come help my un-experienced ass out?!?
It would be greatly appreciated! :tits:

New radiator core support is less then $100
at certafit i think

and all you need is someone who knows how to weld

Jermo537 07-12-2009 10:25 PM

alright ill try my best, not sure if i can get a good pic

well its really not that bad, just needs to be bent back a bit...and i dont know anybody that welds =(

Rickstowing gets down on welding by trade. Pretty sure rc can do some welding aswell

Jermo537 07-12-2009 10:43 PM

strap ur car to a pole or tree. did that to my del sol n the hood finally close n bumper fit right. well that is if ur EM1 is running...

JDM BOII 07-12-2009 11:05 PM

just take it to mi gente in chandler they do good body work !

or bend it back by hand using tools

Jermo537 07-12-2009 11:06 PM

serious? lol not sure the radiator will fit tho until i bend it back
sounds like a good idea tho

OhDang 07-12-2009 11:11 PM

They're the guys i went to with all my cars :D Johnny's a cool guy

ReyEG2 07-12-2009 11:49 PM

u bet ;) oh i see. give it a shot maybe it could fit.

2000hondasi 07-13-2009 10:26 PM

dude you need a monkey bar... Its basically a metal broom handle on steroids that has a chain attached to it. the chain has a big hook on it and you just hook it where its in and use the bar as leverage to pull it back. i wouldn't try welding in a new core support without a frame rack or a tram. your shit will never line up again

Jermo537 07-13-2009 10:46 PM

what the?!? find me a picture!!
please! lol

2000hondasi 07-13-2009 11:07 PM

obviously i wouldnt buy this one just because its mac and their tools are over priced but this is the tool im talking about. i used one like this to square the front of my civic and my gaps are tits

2000hondasi 07-13-2009 11:19 PM

You pickin up what im puttin down??

Jermo537 07-13-2009 11:29 PM

i have no idea how the hell i would use that tool lol
looks cool tho!

Jermo537 07-13-2009 11:29 PM

wait i might have an idea how i would use that tool now....

RarriMarquis 07-17-2009 07:00 AM

use a come along or a ratcheting tie down. I'm assuming you need to pull down so find a tree or a post. If you have a long enough strap you can use a vehicle. Find somewhere on the car to hook it to then run the strap under a wheel to get it low. When you pull, it will help to tap the buckled up areas with a hammer while under tension. That is about all I can do from here.

Ican help... If it drives bring it to my shop... I will pull it and tram it, on a frame machine... No trucks and straps here... But it works too... Lol.

Jermo537 07-17-2009 10:59 PM

well it seems pretty easy with a winch and shit...just gotta find a winch lol
id like to take it to a body shop but of course im a cheap ass and body shops rape me =(

2CAMSVTEC 07-17-2009 11:26 PM

i didnt write pm'me for pricing or nothing right?? So that means im in a good move or drunk enough to tell you that im gonna do it for free... (im a man of my word drunk or not) so call me tomorrow around 10 or 11 and u can stop by... 4825 w glendale ave. Phone number is 602 423 8736.

Jermo537 07-18-2009 09:40 AM

lol damnit i would be all over this! but my car doesnt run yet =(
think we might get it running today but ive got so much other body work to do...not to mention the level 3 inspection i need along with registering and insurance...this wont be on the road for a while

jakellama123 07-18-2009 02:49 PM

i made the mistake on my si of jacking up the car by the rad support and it tweaked it pretty bad
once i forced open my hood i bent it back in to place with a few towels. small sledgehammer and a lil elbow grease
but all i wanted was for my hood to close good
the support is so damn flimsy on those
shouldnt be hard to fix at all
or if u get a new one all u gotta do is crack the spot welds and have someone weld it on for you for cheap
