Beautiful. Few welds to crack :)

rudsone 05-02-2012 08:39 PM

saw this on my fb, they be lookin nice

RICK's-TOWING 05-03-2012 08:32 PM

it should work really well, id imagine itll make whatever the turbo will make. if alls go as planned it should be on a test vehicle soon. im not so sure if i wanna do the traditional tear drop w/g inlet. ive got a couple ideas. i wanna beable to eliminate creep wile using a 44mm gate.

please excuse my purple engine bay. apparently jesse and i still have fans from his si back 5-6 years ago. lol anyway heres a couple more pictures of the manifold in my car.

all_motor_mike 05-04-2012 02:40 PM

Looks good sir, I can't tell on my phone but is that thin wall or sch?

thank you very much man.

all_motor_mike 05-04-2012 06:51 PM

where the hell are u getting the bends for that at? that would save alot of time in prepping and welding. i realize ur probably not goping to say but i thought i would ask.

Dead Bird 05-04-2012 07:04 PM

I do them for him. I broke my thigh-master, so he let's me exercise by putting his pipes between my legs and squeezing.

RICK's-TOWING 05-04-2012 07:09 PM

Lmao! Deadbird is right! You got me. Mike. I bend them myself man. =)

all_motor_mike 05-04-2012 07:29 PM

what bender gets them that tight? not that im going to run out and get one. i personally like all the welds in the current trend of manifold construction but i do the like the idea of less prepping and welding for sure.

mike

RICK's-TOWING 05-04-2012 07:43 PM

well I had to spend quit a bit of money actually. But I personally wanted to build something that hasn't been done something that looks great flows well. I bend them an a cnc mandrel bender. I didnt wanna build manifolds again until I came up with a way to do them different.

RICK's-TOWING 05-04-2012 07:48 PM

And also there's so many more reasons then less prep and welding. I hand finish the runners. Less chance of cracking. Zero chance of misaligned elbows/runners. Its incredibly hard to hold these such tight tolerances but I've got it pretty dialed. The collector in itself has to be dead on every time! took me a little over a month to design a fixture that can replicate accurately within tolerance every time. there's actually way more prep involved. Yeah I could just wire wheel the runner as done traditionally. But i wasn't happy with that look. Never have been.

all_motor_mike 05-05-2012 02:11 PM

Didn't take the accuracy of the bends and collectors into it proper fixture fitment. yeah that does make it a little more difficult then I first figured. Good thing I don't have money for a cnc bender and I like the current trend I guess, lol.

RICK's-TOWING 05-05-2012 03:19 PM

Lol wel im not looking at it as far as a trend. Im looking at it from a performance stand point being more beneficial performance wise. More reliable consumer wise. And cleaner looking before and after its ran. I've never looked at fabrication as a trend. I'd like to think people fabricate parts to perform, not because it's what everyone else is doing. Of course that's just me.

bb4arson 05-05-2012 03:35 PM

looks really good man . (megustaface)

RICK's-TOWING 05-05-2012 03:46 PM

thank you very much!

all_motor_mike 05-05-2012 04:12 PM

I design and build everything to the best of my ability with performance in mind also, I just like the look of the welds on the manifolds........ I know u know what I mean.

Mike

RICK's-TOWING 05-05-2012 04:26 PM

absolutely. Lol I've seen you're work. Your port work is god dam glorious! I never figured you as a trend follower. I still like the look of welds. Im a dam welder. Haha I weld 12+ hours a day. i still build manifolds with welds.

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 05-05-2012 07:38 PM

Very sexy and clean. I saw in another post you might make in N/A, would you go with this same style.

RICK's-TOWING 05-05-2012 07:46 PM

absolutely. I recently got a tube expander that im dieing to use. I wanna do a n/a header to go along with my turbo manifolds. The tube expander will allow me to build a slip fit collector with spring bolts. I need a customer is all.

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 05-05-2012 07:49 PM

If only my ITR was together i would be all over that.

RICK's-TOWING 05-05-2012 08:09 PM

what's the eta? That would be a great n/a platform for testing.

C.R.A.Y. 05-05-2012 08:13 PM

Broskiballer has a stock itr in an ek and he is looking for a good header. Just sayin

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 05-05-2012 08:39 PM

Well as of right now I would say 6 to 8. But that would be car and all.. engine, i can try to have done next month just wouldnt have anything to put it in..

Or this.

RICK's-TOWING 05-05-2012 08:59 PM

Cray if this person has some money to drop im willing to rock m roll. I hate to be the guy that charges but let's be realistic. Shit cost money. Five star. A motor on a stand would be fine. I need someone that can get numbers for me. I come off like a dick but im probly the nicest guy you'll meet. Gotta weed out the non hackers. Lol

C.R.A.Y. 05-05-2012 09:01 PM

Umm
His name has baller in it. Duh.
