rear main seal
how do u change the rear main seal on a 90 integra ls.... its leakin like a bitch... madd oil
i bought that seal and new oil pan gasket... what all do i need to take off to change it... and do i need any special tools.... how do i change it out? so it wont leak anymore |
you have to drop the tranny and remove the clutch and flywheel and there it is you dont need to remove the Oil pan even but you do need a good set of impact sockets and a impact gun other than that you just need your basic set of tools its not the easiest job to do and will take a while to do

What he said. Dont attempt this one unless your really mechanically inclined :) THat seals reaaal touchy
|
ohhh and you need a seal puller or a 90 degree pick to get the seal out and X2 To integra LS its a Hard job to someone not mechanically inclined
|
well i've swapped motors... and trannys... clutches & flywheels alot just never had to change that seal... i didnt even ever notice it being behinde the flywheel....
i bought it... like a circle thick donut lookin gasket... wierd shit.... |
yup thats it have fun changing it and dont lube it up to put it on either or it will always leak
|
can u tell me what tools i'll need... what size sockets and everything... i havent worked on a honda in sooooo long...
|
10 12 14 17 19 32mm sockets
and a seal puller. Add other misc tools you should have in your garage like extensions etc. If you have done transmissions before, its the same as that + removal of flywheel and its sitting right there |
oh and the most important step is to throw it on the ground and give it a good stomp...
|
thats only if the seal kicked your ass for longer hehe
|
I've replaced one with the engine in the car but I'm sure its no harder than with the engine outta the car... but it sucks either way.
Good luck. |
