Great write up. I have also learned the hard way with pressure washing...I do not recommend it. Also, harsh cleaning chemicals can fade or damage your paint. I stick with simple green (high concentration) brushes, rags, sponges, and elbow grease. Another tip is to not saturate the cardboard insulation found on the underside of the hood and firewall. It can start to sag if you do so. Compressed air is great for drying and spraying out hard to reach areas. Unless you want to detail frequently, I skip the engine dressings because they seem to attract quite a bit of dust.
