Tophats on full body coils?

Anyone have real experience with this.

I have Tanabe coils with stock tophats. The ride is not bouncy or rough. I have a good drop not maxed out. I will go lower when the right wheels come along or I finish the set I'm polishing.

Would it be worth it to extend a set of tophats? What is the best length to do?

Thanks for any feed back.

1" front 2" rear Max in my opinion without looking at the setup. Yes its worth it.

I though 2.5 front and 3 rear?

I have read 2.5 front and 3 rear is the max.

I could put up pics of my set up if it will help....

Anyone know the tube diameter by chance?

I'm starting to make these next week if I can.

Above 1" up front you might run into fitment issues depending on the shock shaft stickout but can be solved with spacers or cutting the under hood support.

The rear you could go until the shock body hits the top hat or the top hat/shock shaft hits something...

Ideally you want to get the shock valve as close to its stock ride height position, but that's not always possible specially in the front. You also want to keep the valve and shock body from bottoming out, this is where using a bump stop correctly also comes in.

For tube size measure the outside and inside diameter of the top hat and make sure it will fit through the shock tower hole.

There is a DIY on here for this also

Thanks man. I think I have read that before but re-read it any ways.

I will check what tube we have at work on monday in SS. If not I'll go to vatozone/checker to get some.

Think I'm going 1.5 and 2.5.
The shock body's are a small diameter steel tube. So I'm hoping it will work out to it fits in no problem.

Hopefully this will be a fun tig practice for me:)!!! If not I'll mig it:(

My last set were about 1.75" in the front and 2.5-2.75" in the rear. If they hit the hood put grease on the top of the shock shaft and top hat to mark where to cut the hood support.

Thanks man. I owe you a beer.
