1 cylinder not firing
Ok my baby been acting up for some reason. Not sure why. I had it on a computer and was told one of the cylinders is not firing right. Car starts. Runs. Drives. But sometimes it likes to rock, hard to explain. It jumps my rpms from like 3 to 4 thousand. And when i am coming to a stop or down shifting to second but have not released the clutch it dies. I drop the clutch it fires back up. I was told it could be bad gas. So i dropped out the gas tank and drained it. I wanted to replace fuel filter but not sure where its at. Its an 03 ep3 si. Any help will be much appreciated. I only use 91 octane. I do not drive it. It has been sitting for the past couple days. Please help.

umm correct me if im wrong....but don't ep3's have k series? and don't k series use coil packs?? :roll: u guys :(

im new to the k series. and dont know my way around this bad boy yet. but yes i know it doesnt have wires. i just replaced my plugs. my dizzy you say???? what could it be with the dizzy?

there is no distributor...only crank and cam angle sensors. its most likely nothing with those...have you narrowed it down to which cylinder it is? ie: pull coil pack plugs until the engine mis firing doesnt change? pull out your plugs or use old plugs and pull out all the coil packs and see if they are getting spark to all 4. you will need some help with this one. do that first to narrow things down.

seriously...if you would read, you would know both of those answers already ;) and if one of the cylinders is not getting spark, lets say, try swapping coil packs with a known good one that you see sparking. If it still doesnt work, get a volt meter and check to see if the plug on the harness to the coil pack is getting power. If not, we can get into that...but for now, do the things i mentioned and we'll go from there :thumbup: |

remove plug cover
pull plug off coilpack (keep engine running) if engine sounds worse then its fine but if it doesnt change then it is in fact mis firing |

i had checked the coils. i unplugged each one at a time. and they all made my car bog down sorta and sound funny. Any other ideas? please and thank you.

take it to checker or autozone and have them write it down for you

the checker near me is full of dummies. they can hook it up to a computer or what?
