idle problem
Ok so i have this weird problem that i cant seem to fix, my idle hangs a bit when i push in the clutch geting ready to shift and some times even jumps up 200rpms .. SHIFFTING with this problem is super annoying!! Ive tryed to google it but no one seems to have the answer, if anyone has some tips please let me know! Thanks in advance:thewave:
(My car is a stock 94 accord f22b2) |
so instead of the rpms dropping during and upshift, the engine speed remains constant? How is the slack in your throttle cable?
Yes for a about half a second then drops as normal .. When i shift around 2500rpm itll shoot up about 2 to 300rpms more when clutch is engaged.. Cable looks fine
When I had a similar problem it was the cable. I had it a hair to tight.

^what I'm thinking
Check for vacuum leaks.
Clean throttle body.
Ok im going to try loosing the cabe just a little and clean the throttle body.. Will update in a min
Ok so i did both thinhs suggest but problem still exists ... Dammit
Possibly the TPS then
Take carb cleaner and with the engine on spray it over the throttle body gasket and im gasket to see if the idle fluctuates . If it does then you no it's because you have a vacuum leak , other the. That I would check tps and map sensor.
Map sensor is less then a month old .. I have no idle surge so dont think it has a leak, but will try the carb cleaner and tps
If MAP was bad; car wouldn't run. End of story. Doubt the TPS itself went bad since it is one of the few sensors that very rarely ever go out. The pigtails go out and the TPS might be adjusted wrong or a short somewhere along the TPS wiring might cause as I have a short at the connector and sensor itself and if I bump it or it moves in a certain way, car acts up but it doesn't sound like TPS. MAYBE a kinked vacuum hose but when shifting? It SOUNDS like a sticking butterfly valve or possible throttle cable sticking when you let off the gas to shift. Maybe even pedal it self sticking? I can't really see how RPMs would go UP with all of that sticking though.
Try coasting well driving ( push in clutch throw it in neutral) and see if the RPM's go up when you just push in the clutch and coast for a bit. Does it idle normally after just letting it be in neutral for a minute or two? If it idle is high, my guess is is something is sticking along the throttle cable, throttle body or even pedal (but with pedal, might be bad springs on the pedal). If it does idle normally... I have no idea. Thoughts opinions guys? I am just rambling on/talking to myself here and thinking through it... I can pull out the service manual and follow troubleshoot guides and see if there is anything in there if no one suggests anything else. |
