Nice meeting you too. I'm sure I'll be back soon. I will probably do the install down the road when my hard rubber bushing kit finally show up. And probably after I get around to the timing belt and brakes.

Indeed. Still had to leave it at my Aunt's place, though. I'm thinking the either the water pump just isn't working worth a damn now, or the coolant is just getting stuck in the head somehow. It would explain why the temp gauge sky rockets while the cooling fan doesn't come on, given the thermo switch is at the thermostat while the water temp for the gauge / ECU is in the head. Going to try and flush it when I get it home and go from there.

Working to remove the head and replace the gasket. Blasted exhaust manifold is giving me grief.

Did you decide to do the water pump as well? Good luck and let us know if you get it fixed.

Not planning on it at the moment. Starting work next week, and if I can't get the head back together by then, I'll just leave the car parked. Also, head bolts are effing expensive. Got a set from HondaPartsNow for half of what the local deals want here in town. Just waiting for them to arrive. Haven't gotten back under the hood to work the exhaust manifold off.

Bolts are here for the head. Postman asked if the car was going to be for sale anytime soon.

Gasket was shot for sure. Had some tears in it. New on in. need to do some more torquing along with recentering a rocker over an exhaust valve. Once that's done, I'll fire it up.

Also found I have 16 valve pistons in the block. I can see where my first upgrade will happen since I won't be swapping the engine anytime soon. :D

Just received my PIC hard rubber bushing kit. I don't think my newborn son is going to allow me to install them anytime soon though.

Decided to bump the starter to see if the rocker arm would recenter. It did. Still running off, buuuuuuut its holding temp right. I'm thinking the timing is off and I need to check a few connections still.

Looks like I may have a bad cat. Wondering if it melted after the gasket went and the motor overheated. Engine bogs down hard at higher revs and gets obnoxiously loud. I'm betting it can't breath. -_-

Okay, so I'm ruling out the cat. Car can idle for twenty - thirty minutes just fine. It's bogging down hard at 4,000 RPMs. I've replaced the spark plugs. I'm wondering if I ruined my water temp sensor in the head when the gasket finally gave out and I overheated. From idle up to 3000 RPMs I'm fine. I hit 4000 and it goes nuts. Thoughts?

Distributor is on my hit list now as well. Been searching the web and some people seem to have had that issue. Would explain why it smells like gas when I fire it up and let it idle. *sigh*

Fuel pump might be on its last leg. Had that happen before and couldn't figure it out.

That's another one that's popped up in my searches as well. Going to do cap, rotor and plug wires next. Hope the coil isn't going.
