I'd have to agree with you. 0 Gauge wire is expensive. . .I don't think he's picking up 17 feet of it for 23 bucks. My good buddy does some electrical stuff and he wouldn't even give it away to me that cheap.

battery has to be mounted securly (battery box). moving the circuit breaker, adding some loom would be a good idea too

Do you mean safe? because in that case, they are the safest.

Not at all man haha they don't release gases since there is no chemical reaction involving sulfuric acid as in regular batteries.

Does anyone have a good write up to do this?

did this on my accord..luckily the car came with an amp wire already run in it so i just connected that to the positve cable for the battery and unbolted the ground from the engine bay and put it in the trunk..worked great but gave me some lag when starting my car from the battery all the way back there

so if you have a relocated battery do you have to have a circuit breaker for the track?

You need a fuse OR circuit breaker for safety.

Not fusing a wire could result in a serious fire. And yes, track officials will check for it.
I haven't read any of the links posted here but I would recommend a circuit breaker being placed within 6 inches of the battery.

The image posted does look like it could use some improvement. For one, that area is rusted which emans it sees a fair amount of mousture. Electrical components + water = bad news.

Also, anyone getting 17 feet of 0 gauge wire is probably getting 8 gauge with a shit ton of insulation ( :

17 ft of 0 AWG wire for $100 is a damned good deal!

And whoever said they did this and now have a lag, you did something wrong. Electricity travels at a very low rate fo speed, yes, but your wire should be charged and just waiting for your ignition switch to ground it.

Basically, you shouldn't have any "lag." in your electrical system. Check your grounds and all your connections. I suspect some seriously high resistance and/or a decent amount of voltage drop is occuring somewhere.

Dam I bought a 100 ft of wire for my hatch for like 25 bucks. I had already wired mine for subs so I just switched a few things around and did some ground shit and it was good!! Also If you have a sealed battery do you need the box and all that shit? My friend just put his in his rear qp in the hatch and it worked fine..

ya fuck the truck and the battery box or optima batter plus a bunch of wire

PS...DONT USE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

I have 15 years experience in low voltage

I have seen personally a 150amp CB ..fail....and caught a vechichle on fire!!!!! no joke

use ANL style fuses

0 ga is way overkill

the factory uses real 8 ga......so aftermarket 6ga or 4ga is more than enough

most guys nowadays run the battery in the bumper....useally passenger side

I just built my own mount for my EG ...works great!!!! and super solid....WAY less wire..and chances for a short.....no stupid vented battery box...no loss of space

here is a few pix...."i'm not really a fab guy.....this was made with some metal stock from HD and a super cheap Harbor Frieght wire feed....so don't hate on the welds"
