Will my cage pass tech?

Long time no see AZHT. Ive been living in California for over a year now and since then ive done a few new upgrades to my car. I recently got a cage built by a former friend I met out here. His work is decent but i feel like it wont pass tech... What do you guys think? its a pre made chromoly cage, the thickness is .083 and some bars are a inch, a inch and a half and 2 inch in diameter. IM asking you guys for your honest opinion because i❤AZHT

Thanks Gabe, I'm just curious to see if it would pass tech with the NASA AZ guys. What are your of thoughts of it? Like is it safe or functional?

I'm not sure if chromoly will pass race tech.

If you are planning on only doing HPDE and TT, then the chromoloy might pass.

The diagonal brace, is supposed to be one continuous bar. In this picture it looks like it's two piece (one piece below the harness bar, and one piece above)

The rear support legs need to go all the way to the floor. It looks like they are welded to the rear shock tower brace. This is actually an easy fix. Just have the fabricator weld in another set of rear support legs that go down to the floor, preferably into the little pocket in front of the rear shock towers.

The lower portion of the rear diagonal (near the passenger side B-pillar), ideally should join up with the main hoop at the lowest point. I think you could probably slide on this one, but the other two would not pass race tech.

I've seen cars with cages that have characteristics named above pass HPDE / TT tech. But if you plan on joining race group, the cage will definitely need to be modified in a few areas.

The tubing specs for a car weighing less than 2,500 lbs is 1.500” x 0.095” Seamless Alloy (4130), Seamless mild steel (CDS Mechanical) or DOM

Without being able to see the weld penetration and check to make sure that the tubes are welded a full 360 degrees around the circumference of the joint it's kind of tough to comment on the safety aspect.

I'm sure it's stiffened up the chassis quite a bit, so from that standpoint it's functional.

How about the diameter of the diagonal bar? it's one inch in diameter. As far as complete welds, there are over 8 areas that aren't completely welded... So I guess that's a fail... Thanks for the info! I Have a few more pics I'll post later tonight.

That's no bueno man. I know it's not what you probably want to hear, but could you cut it out and sell it to someone who may be looking for something for more of a show car build and take the money and put towards a roll bar or roll cage with property diameter tube and better quality welds? Would be much safer in the event of an accident.
