Protecting Paint Job

I was wondering how everyone keeps their paint jobs looking so clean. On my way back to Cali about a month ago with my girlfriend I saw two guys covering their cars with blue painters tape. I swear they covered just about the whole car in that crap but I'm looking for a better way then spending a ton of money for a new paint job and then spending more money covering it with tape.

It sounds dumb, but tape is seriously the best way. Get wax paper, lay it down and get painters tape and tape it down, and then put some more painters tape over it.

i think theres like a clear bra you can put on the front. its pretty hard to notice it on too.
