I watched about a million how to videos on you tube so thats where I would suggest going to look it up. I am pretty good myself and will come teach you how on your vehicle for basically cost of materials.

But basically as a guide line
-use top of window to cut in 1 pass
-before any cutting let tint hang over bottom edge of window about 1/4" (gets tucked into the seal)

Huber Optik I would say as number one and the metallic type tints seem to do good as well.

just a tip when doing window tint dont use the spray from autozone or wallmart cause they sux. I learned this from a window tint guy the better stuff to use is johnsons baby shampoo and water it helps move the tint film around easier ive done it defineity works wonders.

tinting window can't be learned by looking at youtube videos, It's harder than it looks. It's different with every car.

as a solution for the film i use johnson baby soap with water.

i will make a write up soon on how to remove.

And as far tint quality you can't get that shit at wallmart and autozone and expect it to last.

I use SunTek and Madico. They offer lifetime warranties on their hi-end films

yea not just videos but they do help. I just developed the technique that worked best for me through trial and error. Back windows sometime still problematic though. are you supposed to dry shrink it with like baby powder or can you just get it wet then shrink it on there like that?

ive been quoted from 50 to 100 to remove tint so i just did it myself with some razors and a steamer. steamer helps so much. it helps to get all the glue to stick on the film and it saves ur window defrosters. and as for the left over stuff just use some goo off and i rag
hope that helps a little

what I my business partner did was spray the water/baby soap on the outside of the window then rub dryer sheets on the window the use a hard card and a heat gun. the dryer sheet would let the film slid well you did the shrinking. ( could never do this i just helped with the installation)

and the steamer and ammonia(or ammonia based window cleaner) is what was used to remove tint on back windows. Front windows would just be a Razor and clean with ammonia and glass cleaner.

a good way to take off tint is use the black trash bag.. works great... on a hot day, spray ur window down wit soap and water, put the trash bag on ur window while the water is still on, close ur doors, and the window wit the water and trash bag on looks like its fogging up.... let it set bout 30min... and pills rite off wit the sticky part still on...

Has any of you ever layed tint on top of tint? I want this done so it's even darker I have factory tint on there now and it's not that dark...

bigballsmagerki
09-14-2010, 07:37 AM
well Factory tint is referred to as " privacy glass", the tint is in the glass itsself. You can go over that with no issues. You can go over regular film as well, but I wouldnt recommend it on a window that rolls up and down, its more likely to catch and peel. Its do able forsure though either way.
